Study of Giant Pairing Vibrations with neutron-rich nuclei
نویسنده
چکیده
We investigate the possible signature of the presence of giant pairing states at excitation energy of about 10 MeV via two-particle transfer reactions induced by neutron-rich weakly-bound projectiles. Performing particle-particle RPA calculations on Pb and BCS+RPA calculations on Sn, we obtain the pairing strength distribution for two particles addition and removal modes. Estimates of two-particle transfer cross sections can be obtained in the framework of the ’macroscopic model’. The weak-binding nature of the projectile kinematically favours transitions to high-lying states. In the case of ( He, He) reaction we predict a population of the Giant Pairing Vibration with cross sections of the order of a millibarn, dominating over the mismatched transition to the ground state.

Excited-state density distributions in neutron-rich nuclei
We calculate densities of excited states in the quasiparticle random-phase approximation (QRPA) with Skyrme interactions and volume pairing. We focus on low-energy peaks/bumps in the strength functions of a range of Ca, Ni, and Sn isotopes for J π = 0+, 1−, and 2+. We define an “emitted-neutron number,” which we then use to distinguish localized states from scattering-like states. The degree of...

Following from the prediction by Hilton and Mang [1] of “giant backbending” in 180Hf, caused by a collective oblate rotational band crossing the prolate ground-state band, there has been further theoretical investigation of this phenomenon [2–5]. The calculated shape change is understood to be induced by the effects of rotation alignment. It is related to the prediction of a ground-state shape ...

Received (received date) Revised (revised date) RMF + BCS description of drip-line nuclei Recently it has been demonstrated, considering Ni and Ca isotopes as prototypes, that the relativistic mean-field plus BCS (RMF+BCS) approach wherein the single particle continuum corresponding to the RMF is replaced by a set of discrete positive energy states for the calculation of pairing energy provides...

The novel availability of exotic nuclei has spurred an immense revival of nuclear structure investigations [1]. Indeed nuclei close to the neutron or proton drip lines may exhibit very unusual features such as pronounced neutron or proton skins [2], and neutron halos [3]. Among many very interesting questions, nuclear pairing has again become on the forefront of theoretical interest. Indeed the...
متن کاملEnhanced excitation of Giant Pairing Vibrations in heavy-ion reactions induced by weakly-bound projectiles
The use of radioactive ion beams is shown to offer the possibility to study collective pairing states at high excitation energy, which are not usually accessible with stable projectiles because of large energy mismatch. In the case of two-neutron stripping reactions induced by He, we predict a population of the Giant Pairing Vibration in Pb or Sn with cross sections of the order of a millibarn,...
